Life in Wellington – Oct 2019

This month has been relatively quiet for me. I’ve been working on book 5 in the Andy Flint Series. Working with my editor on book 2, Double Cross and getting my e-mail automation to work with my newsletters from my website. This was a major achievement (for me anyway!). I also created a LinkedIn Author account.

I’ve not been able to go tramping in the local mountains or traveled anywhere. Though I did attend the annual New Zealand Cyber Security Conference at Te Papa. Te Papa being our national museum and the largest museum in the Southern Hemisphere and hosts some amazing displays, like the Gallipoli exhibition and the famous ‘earthquake house’. Back to the Cyber Security Conference where all the speakers were very interesting and the event certainly gives me some good material for a new Andy Flint story.

Taking a wider view of New Zealand, the country has faced a few negative events. Firstly, the fire at the Sky Tower Convention Centre which was under construction where it was believed that a tradie left his blowtorch on when he went away for a smoke break. In the process he managed to burn the place down and shutdown central Auckland for 2 days while the fire brigade fought the fire. The second one was the Rugby World Cup where the All Blacks lost to England. It wasn’t the result the country expected, however, the best team on the night won. Finally, Air New Zealand announced it was ending its flights to the UK. The LA to London leg would be closing next year as the airline focuses on markets which are larger, easier to reach and with less competition. So, in future, flying back to Europe we’ll be taking one of the other great airlines which service New Zealand, just not with our national carrier.

November is looking to be a busy month with a weekend in Christchurch, a few days in Hamilton and a break in Auckland. In the mean-time. It’s back to reviewing edits and pushing out more on book 5.

We have some tall buildings in Wellington too…..not quite like New York…okay nothing like New York 🙂
